Aims and Objectives
Outlined below is a list of the aims and objectives of Jika Jika Community
Centre.
- To be an appropriate community development centre and facility with
a clear social justice orientation that encourages involvement and participation
of people in the affairs of their community.
- To help meet the needs, in access and program terms of the socially
isolated and marginalised members of Northcote's community.
- To be actively involved in the decision-making process locally and
in this region, that affects the allocation of resources and priorities
in the community.
- To act as a contact, support and advocacy agent for the ethnic community
groups in the area.
- To achieve financial security in funding and an appropriate facility
- To provide a welcoming environment in which people can develop friendships,
extend their support networks, exchange ideas and to encourage people
to involve themselves more fully in community life and decision-making.
- To be a proactive and creative agent in initiating and encouraging
activities and opportunities best provided at a neighbouring level.
- To be actively involved in environment issues at a local and global
level.
- To provide quality childcare where necessary.
